My journey in software engineering started with my grandmother. When I was a child my grandmother was hospitalised for an unknown cause at time. My mom was a registered nurse at a private hospital and right away she knew my grandmother had a malignant brain tumour. However, the CAT scans showed nothing according to the doctors. My mom was insistent that it was a tumour but nothing in the scans showed signs of one. A few months later my grandmother is severely ill and my mom had still not given up on her theory. The doctors complete another CAT scan and unfortunately my mom was right, it was a brain tumour that had progressed for too long and my grandmother had a very small chance of survival. After a week my grandmother passes.
The doctors went back to the original scans and notice that they missed the tumour and it was in fact present in the scan which could have saved her life if it was caught at the time. Ever since then I had think back on that time and wonder if the cancer had been caught my grand mother might still be here today.
software and tech as a whole has the ability to to make an impact on life that fundamentally change the world just with a single start up. Ever since my grandmother had passed I have looked to Computers as a way to preventing things like that from happening. I became interested in the idea of using artificial intelligence and robotics after watching the movie I,Robot and there's an elderly lady being helped by an android and I felt that was the snowball that led to my interest in software, AI and robotics. I hope to be a part of a team that can use technology to make a great impact on the world, I am driven to work hard and make and break stuff that will be the future of humanity as a whole
